What can you tell us about the shoot?
The shoot was an adventure, a challenge, and a great team building experience. We were working in extreme conditions out in the desert in a van with no air conditioner. I was covered in fake, sticky blood for many days, and we definitely had to band together to make sure we got all the shots we needed. The van broke down on the Los Angeles freeway at one point, and we were always running against the clock and the sunlight. I’m really proud of what everyone accomplished in the action packed shoot schedule we had!
Did you have fun working with Tony Todd & Danny Trejo?
I loved working with both of them. Tony is an incredible improvisational actor, he was always coming up with inventive and strange lines that made us laugh. Danny was cool, an easy going guy, and it was great to work with someone I had grown up watching in different films. He usually plays a tough guy, but he’s a good guy at heart.
Is it true, you are singing a song in VANish?
Yes, I wrote a song specifically for VANish, called Six Feet Under. I wrote it in character about my feelings about being held in captivity. It plays at the end of the credits. I directed the music video and Bryan, the director, played my hostage. It was a pretty fun revenge song.
You already played in some serials as well. What is more fun for you, to be apart serials or movie projects?
I prefer films. I love diving into a character and project for a month or two, really exploring relationships in the story and then taking off and filming something new. I love variety in life, and that’s true for me in film too. However, there are so many great shows that shoot like films now, and I wouldn’t mind being a part of an epic series.
Is there a role, you would like to play in the future?
I love fantasy/action roles. I like anything that requires training. I enjoy quirky character pieces as well as dysfunctional family roles. Again, I love variety.
With which director would you like to work with and why?
I would love to work with Terrence Mallick or Paul Thomas Anderson. Terrence has an incredible eye for really moving and breathtaking visuals that complement great story telling. And I’ve been a huge Paul Thomas Anderson fan for a long time. Boogie Nights is one of my favorite films. I also wouldn’t mind working with Tim Burton, who has such an incredible imagination.
What can we expect in the future with you?
More films, more music, more storytelling. I write film scripts as well, one of which will be shot this year. I also love directing, and plan to direct the first script I ever wrote, which is a dark piece that I say is Black Swan meets Alice and Wonderland.
Thank you so much for your nice answers!
Thank you for your time! I absolutely love Germany. I have spent time in Berlin, Hamburg, and Bavaria. Last summer I stayed at Tegernsee Lake and fell in love with its beauty. I look forward to going back and exploring much more of Germany.
